Case Study: From State Dinners to a National Celebration

Role: Event Production, Content & Creative Direction
Partnership: 12 Years
Event: Annual Pin Night — Employee Recognition & Celebration

The Challenge

For this family-owned global company, recognising its people and celebrating long-term service is an important part of its culture.

The annual Pin Night recognises employees from across Australia, together with their partners, celebrating years of service, sales achievements and significant career milestones.

Originally delivered as individual state-based dinners, the opportunity was to create something bigger: a national event that would strengthen connection across the Australian team while giving employees and their achievements the recognition they deserved.

The Solution

Over a 12-year partnership, Andrew helped redefine Pin Night from a series of individual state dinners into a much-anticipated annual national gala celebration.

Andrew’s role extended well beyond MCing. Working as a strategic event partner, he collaborated closely with the client from the early planning stages through to delivery, shaping the content, production, presentation style, entertainment and overall guest experience.

His involvement ensures each year’s event feels fresh while maintaining the traditions and sense of recognition that make Pin Night special.

Andrew’s support included:

  • Full event production and coordination

  • Content advice and event messaging

  • Presentation direction and speaker support

  • Event flow and audience engagement

  • Creative direction and entertainment concepts

  • Talent suggestions, sourcing and engagement

  • AV requirements, specification and liaison with in-house AV teams

  • Advice and support for other company events

  • Ideas and strategies to strengthen employee connection

The Execution

Bringing employees and their partners together from across Australia requires careful coordination, with Andrew overseeing the many production elements required to bring the event together.

This includes developing the event format and run of show, specifying technical and AV requirements, liaising directly with in-house AV teams, identifying and engaging suitable entertainment and talent, supporting presenters, and managing the overall production and flow of the event.

But the focus remains firmly on the people being celebrated.

Every element of the evening is designed to make recognition feel meaningful — from the way individual achievements are presented to the entertainment, pacing, production and atmosphere of the event.

Importantly, partners are part of the celebration too, recognising the role families play in supporting long and successful careers.

The result is an event that goes beyond awards and presentations. It brings people together, shares stories, celebrates loyalty and achievement, and creates a stronger sense of connection across a national organisation.

The Outcome

Pin Night became a highly anticipated annual national event and an important part of the company’s employee recognition calendar.

What began as separate state-based dinners has evolved into a shared national celebration of people, careers and achievement.

Andrew’s 12-year involvement reflects the value of a long-term event partnership: understanding the organisation, its people and its culture well enough to continually evolve an event while protecting what makes it meaningful.

Because great recognition events don’t simply acknowledge achievement. They make people feel valued, connected and proud to be part of something.
